When i began my fitness journey, I was 21 years old and over 40% BF. I was 315 lbs with little to no muscle to be found
I began with simple cardio and cleaning up my diet. That eventually led to weight training and a detailed ketosis diet, which got me down to 275 pounds within 5-6 months. I made it down to 250 by the end of that year.
By then, weight training had consumed my life and I was gaining mass by the hour. Perfect eating, 5 day/week training (I called it working out back then) and I eventually made it down to 230lbs and about 18% BF%. When I joined the army, I shrunk down to 200lbs, but that was lack of weight training and over abundance of cardiovascular training and combat tactical training.
today, i train with heavy weights, plyometrica and odd objects, affording me the ability complete in strongman competitions, complete military PT tests and weigh in at over 275lbs(yes folks, that’s not a typo) and still jump onto an over 40″ platform with a 21″ vertical leap.

My story is probably an atypical one with plenty of ups and downs. To this day i still suffer highs and lows and I don’t see it ending anytime soon(good lord willing). So, what about you?
Click the little comment box below and tell me a small story in your journey through life and fitness. I spill my guts every week, keeping you abreast of my life, training and happenings, I’d like to know a little something about the people who read my ramblings.
Thanks for playing along with me here. There’s nothing more inspiring to me than hear someones tale about overcoming adversity or old habits.

January 3rd, 2009 — Articles, Deep Thoughts

Hey, Hope you had a safe and happy new year celebration. I can tell you that 09 WILL be my best year yet, Hope you’re striving for the same.
While I was “vacationing”(meaning not working), I posted an article I recently wrote. Im sure that you’ve noticed by now that I’ve been shifting my focus of this blog to more of a combat fitness niche and this article has everything to do with military and para-military fitness. (On a side note, I originally started this blog for combat related fitness, so this really isnt anything new)
So you’re not the PT stud you used to be?
Does that exclude anyone else who has followed me thus far? NO!!
The training isn’t changing, just the focus of the blog. Ive trained this way for years and I always got snide remarks from military traditionalist. Most people think that you have to run 3-4 miles everyday to become conditioned for a timed run. You have to do 100 pushups a day to pass a pushup test, etc. With this website and my training, I’m going to prove the old school guys wrong, Believe that.
So I look forward to a great year with all of my current followers and new friends that have yet to sign up. I live to train hard and to teach and this is my outlet for both.
Get Strong, Stay Strong

PS. Spread the word about this site and email newsletter. I welcome any and everyone who wants to use alternative training methods to get real world results!

To whom it may concern,
I know things are tough, and stability may no longer be a part of your daily routine, but why do you doubt yourself so much. Ive seen you grow from a snaggletooth little fat boy, into a jacked young man and it seem like only yesterday you were getting your first car. If you didnt know any better, you would have thought you have a Mercedes. Look how far youve come in such a short time on this earth. You’Ve conqured everything from college to combat, why would this little bump in the road be the end all, seriously?
So to end this little pity party letter I’ve got going on here, ill say this. Man up, dont be a coward and do this like I’ve seen you do everything else, Balls to the wall and no stopping. Stop worrying and let it be. Just have a little faith and you’ll eventually see what Ive seen in my last 26 years with you. I have been there for the past and ill be there till the final hour!
Sincerely,
Me!

PS: To those who had an issue with my Opt in Box, I apologize. The problem has been corrected and is the email box is working once again. Thank you to those who notified me of the situation, I would have never known!

..Or not!
Â
In fact, be sure to NOT watch what you eat this thanksgiving!
Every year around the holidays, you always have these fitness experts preaching about following your meal plan, even throughout the holidays. Ok, I get it, no one wants to step on the scale on January 1st and pass out from the sight, but make sure you enjoy yourself.
I’m going to say that again, MAKE SURE YOU ENJOY YOURSELF. We only live once, according to most religions, so why torture yourself when everyone else is enjoying themselves? Who knows, you could, god forbid, get into a car wreck heading to the mall on black Friday. All that damn diet and exercise, just to go out in a heap of burning metal. I know I’m a bit off topic here but my point is this. Enjoy yourself in this, the season for family, friends, togetherness and gluttony.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the bunch. Every year, myself, my family and friends always wake up late, eat too much food from several different houses and end up passing out in a tryptophan induced coma. This year, im gonna let YOU in on the festivities by filming a majority of the day/night. Stay tuned for that

I’ll bet that Vida will have a hearty Thanksgiving dinner
My Jerry springer final words will be this. Have fun, enjoy yourself and cherish the time you have here. 90% of the U.S. population doesn’t care about way they eat or look any other time of the year and YOU DO! So reward yourself this year and then get right back on the horse. I promise you, Eating like a pig ONE DAYÂ will not ruin your entire physique!
Get Strong, Stay Strong and enjoy life!
